January 25, 2012 (Cary, North Carolina) — Woodland Terrace – Arboretum Alzheimer Care Residences, part of the Kisco Senior Living family of communities, recently earned the status of an Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) Excellence in Care Dementia Program of Distinction. The community is being recognized as a model of dementia care in the local community.
The AFA developed Excellence in Care to promote continual improvement of care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, and to establish best practices at dementia care settings across the country. The program provides facilities with the tools and resources to offer their clients the most current and highest standards of care.
The initiative, created by AFA and other industry experts, consists of a comprehensive on-site evaluation and ongoing consultation on strategies to achieve and sustain the highest standards for quality care.
“Woodland Terrace Arboretum is pleased to have received this designation as it speaks to our continued efforts to provide and ensure the best quality of life for our residents,” says Trudy Croxton, Assistant Executive Director and Wellness Director at Woodland Terrace. This status also allows Woodland Terrace to be a dementia care resource, conducting educational workshops for residents’ family and friends, provide knowledge and support, encourage communication and enhance associate/family interaction.
“At Woodland Terrace we pride ourselves on making a difference every day in the lives of our residents and their families. Earning this status from AFA reminds us that continuing to strive for excellence and keeping our residents and their families top of mind, truly does make a difference,” added Croxton.
AFA’s Excellence in Care serves as a resource and offers a comfort level for families choosing care settings for their loved ones. When families see this status, they know the care setting has voluntarily gone through the Excellence in Care evaluation process and has attained AFA’s national standard of excellence.
