Georgian Manor Official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting

Chesapeake, VA – Commonwealth Senior Living, the premier operator of assisted living and memory care communities in Virginia, is pleased to announce the official grand opening of Georgian Manor, located at 651 River Walk Parkway, in Chesapeake. The official open house and celebration is being held on Wednesday, May 28, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., with the official ribbon cutting scheduled for 6:00 p.m., marking the occasion. The public is welcome to attend the Grand Opening. Refreshments and tours will be offered, and all guests can enter to win door prizes.05222008123424logo

The Grand Opening celebration marks the completion of a $2 million remodel that positions the community to better meet the needs of residents now, and in the future. “We realize there is a growing need in the community for high quality care,” shares Richard Brewer, President and CEO of Commonwealth Assisted Living. “Adding an additional 10,000 square foot of new assisted living units, coupled with our award winning Sweet Memories™ memory care program in Chesapeake, will give family members a much needed alternative for care.”

In addition to the new assisted living units, community improvements include a new dining room, living room and nurses station, as well as renovations to the community kitchen and courtyard.

But that’s not all that is new at Georgian Manor: Maria Irlinger recently accepted the position of executive director for the community. “Maria brings professionalism and passion to our community, residents, families and associates,” shares Catherine Klett Anderson, Regional Director of Operations for Commonwealth Assisted Living. Originally from Staten Island, NY, Irlinger came to Georgian Manor after sixteen years of senior living community management in the Chesapeake area. Irlinger has long been active in the senior living industry including serving as Vice Present of the Chesapeake Task Force on Aging (2001 – 2005) and is an Alzheimer’s support group facilitator.

Georgian Manor provides assistance with activities of daily living to seniors. The community also helps residents enjoy a higher quality of life with access to on-site social opportunities. Staff encourages resident independence while delivering the care and support they need in an environment that feels like home. Georgian Manor’s Sweet Memories program provides the extra attention, safety and security residents experiencing Alzheimer’s disease and other memory impairments require. Sweet Memories received the Best Practice Award from the Virginia Assisted Living Association, and is a resident-centered program that ensures the best care and overall experience for the resident as well as their family.

Commonwealth Assisted Living and its affiliates operate 18 senior living communities throughout Virginia, 12 of which offer Sweet Memories program. They provide services with dignity, respect and compassion, and have a goal of providing quality care to all residents in a non-institutional, home-like atmosphere. Commonwealth’s long-term goals include smart growth through acquisition, custom renovations and creative hiring. For more information on Commonwealth Assisted Living visit www.CommonwealthAL.com.
